About the Initiative

An inspiring & practical approach to greater vitality and well-being

The Queensland Community Vitality Initiative is a carefully developed Sustainable Healthy Living Australia Inc. community education program. It brings practical learning, personal reflection and supportive local connection together in one continuing pathway.

Our purpose

Helping people strengthen the foundations of everyday wellbeing

Vitality is the capacity to take part in life with energy, connection, resilience and purpose. It is shaped by daily habits, relationships, environments, opportunities and the communities around us.

The Initiative is designed to make useful wellbeing education easier to understand, easier to act on and easier to continue. It is educational and community-based. It does not diagnose, treat or provide personal clinical advice.

Principles that guide the program

Practical

Ideas are translated into small actions that can fit real lives.

Inclusive

People bring different abilities, cultures, experiences and starting points.

Evidence-informed

Learning is shaped by credible knowledge and careful evaluation.

Community-centred

Belonging and local connection are treated as important foundations of vitality.

Non-judgemental

The aim is useful progress, not perfection, pressure or comparison.

Continuous

A workshop is the beginning of a supported pathway, not a one-off event.

Proposed pilot

A six-month learning pathway, subject to approval

The proposed Queensland Community Vitality Initiative pilot would include six 2.5-hour workshop intakes at two local Maleny venues.

  • A personal Community Vitality Profile for guided self-reflection
  • A practical, facilitated 2.5-hour workshop
  • A simple personal action plan
  • Continued online learning through Vital Health Roots
  • Six months of follow-up encouragement and connection
  • Evaluation designed to improve the program and understand community value

A foundation for long-term community capability

The pilot is intended to create more than a series of events. It will help establish a reusable curriculum, participant resources, evaluation tools, portable technology and future facilitator capability.

Over time, this foundation may support delivery in more Queensland communities, participant membership, facilitator pathways and responsible, de-identified outcome reporting.
